Best Fit Models Test for the Virtual Channel in Distributed Video Coding
نویسندگان
چکیده
Wyner-Ziv (WZ) video coding – a particular case of distributed video coding (DVC) – is a new video coding paradigm based on two major Information Theory results: the Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv theorems. Most of the solutions available in the literature, model the correlation noise between the original frame and the so-called side information by virtual channel. However most of the DVC solutions in the literature assume Laplacian distribution as noise virtual channel model, in this study we perform three goodness-of-fit tests, the KolmogorovSmirnov test and the Chi-Square test and log-Likelihood test to study the nature of the virtual channel. The results show that a mixture of 3 (or 4) mixture Gaussian model can best describe this virtual channel.

According to progress of technology during the recent decades, video transmission through a wireless channel has found high demands. In this field, several methods have been proposed to improve video quality. Appearing error in motion vector values is one of the most important factors which can affect the video quality. In case of creating errors in motion vector, the synthesized video frames a...
متن کاملDependency channel model for transform domain Wyner-Ziv coding
Distributed video coding is a new video coding paradigm aimed at shifting the computational expensive motion estimation to the decoder. Side information is generated at the decoder as a prediction of the current frame. This creates a virtual dependency channel between the source video at the encoder and the side information at the decoder. Error correcting channel codes are used to correct the ...
متن کاملRecognition of Visual Events using Spatio-Temporal Information of the Video Signal
Recognition of visual events as a video analysis task has become popular in machine learning community. While the traditional approaches for detection of video events have been used for a long time, the recently evolved deep learning based methods have revolutionized this area. They have enabled event recognition systems to achieve detection rates which were not reachable by traditional approac...
متن کاملDistributed Video Coding for Video Communication on Mobile Devices and Sensors
In the context of digital video coding, recent insights have led to a new video coding paradigm called Distributed Video Coding, or DVC, characterized by low-complexity encoding and highcomplexity decoding, which is in contrast to traditional video coding schemes. This chapter provides a detailed overview of DVC by explaining the underlying principles and results from information theory and int...
متن کاملAdaptive Spectral Separation Two Layer Coding with Error Concealment for Cell Loss Resilience
This paper addresses the issue of cell loss and its consequent effect on video quality in a packet video system, and examines possible compensative measures. In the system's enconder, adaptive spectral separation is used to develop a two-layer coding scheme comprising a high priority layer to carry essential video data and a low priority layer with data to enhance the video image. A two-step er...
